Kodak Gallery's New Beta Website - Easier to Use Plus Free Shipping

Free Shipping on PrintsIn response to customer comments, Kodak Gallery has created a new beta website which can be accessed from the home page at Kodak Easy Share Gallery While new features are still being added, it is easier to use and has new products and designs including new high quality Professional Prints, Photo Cards, Photo Mugs, Photo Books, Photo Gifts and more. One of the most popular features is bound to be the continuation of the summer Free Shipping promotion. Customers will receive free regular shipping on all purchases over $4.99 (except Same-Day Pickup orders, Gift Certificates, PhotoStamps). Kodak Gallery is offering free shipping as an experiment and if successful they plan to continue it.

The other good news is that Kodak Gallery does not appear to be raising prices in order to offer free shipping. For example, a 9x10.25 Photo Book is $29.99 with no shipping fee. Premium 4x6 prints remain 15 cents, while new Professional prints are 30 cents. Kodak justifies the higher price for the new Professional Prints by offering richer color on thick papers. All images are reviewed and adjusted by a color and imaging specialist to optimize balanced color, neutral areas and proper exposure.

How to Archive Your Digital Photos

While it may sound dreary and boring, properly archiving your collection of digital photos on a regular basis will pay off big time in the long run. The keys are to:

  • Establish good storing habits by maintaining a regular schedule and developing a consistent system for tagging and naming your images.

  • Back up your images by burning them to CD or DVD on a regular basis.

  • Archive photos on an external hard drive

  • You can even storing images for free on line at photo services such as Snapfish.com or Shutterfly.com, which offer unlimited free storage.

Read our complete article on how to archive your photos and keep them safe for years to come.

Canon Powershot SD970 IS - A Winner

The Canon Powershot SD 970 IS packs in a lot of high-end features for a compact digital camera. At approx $319, it is a little pricier than some other cameras in the compact camera category, but it offers amazing image quality and high quality HD video capture, which is a big selling point. The other big advantages are its huge 3-inch LCD with a brilliant display and an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. It offers Auto, Manual and 11 scene modes.

This camera is fast. You can power on the Canon SD 970, focus and take your shot in about 2.16 seconds and there is very little shutter lag, only about .46 second. The SD 970 produces crisp, brilliant photos. There is a little barrel distortion when using the widest angle. This is a great camera. If you find it is too pricey for you, a good alternative would be the Canon Powershot SD 780.
