At 14.1MP and 8x Optical zoom and under $200, the Kodak EasyShare M580 offers a nice feature set and sharp, bright images with little shutter lag. Shoots very well in a variety of lighting situations including low light and twilight. It has a large 3-inch LCD and HD video recording (1280 x 720) at 30 fps and VGA video (640 x 480) at 30 fps. The camera comes with PC software that syncs with the camera whenever it's connected via USB. Easy one-button sharing and you can instantly tag pictures for uploading to YouTube, Facebook, Flickr. The M580 can be charged via micro-USB port. Negatives: the optical zoom is not available while recording video and the body is a little larger than others at the similar feature set. Comes in blue, pink and purple.

10MP 12x Optical zoom. The Kodak EasyShare Z1012 IS produces sharp images with overall very good performance and excellent zoom. It's easy to use, including the manual controls. It has fast shutter speed with short next-shot delay and is versatile in a wide variety of shooting situations and performs well at night. The only con is short battery life.
