ACD Systems - The makers of ACDSee 9 Photo Manager
ACDSee Systems released the latest version of their photo management software, ACDSee 10 Photo Manager, with new features including easy integrated uploading to online sharing sites like SmugMug and FLickr, the ability to create PowerPoint presentations and a new Photo Calendar tool for searching photos.

New Features in ACDSee Photo Manager 10

Sharing

ACDSee's new Uploader tool offers integrated uploading to online sharing sites like SmugMug and FLickr. You can also easily add a slideshow or photo layouts to a Web page or blog with the new Photo Widget, which is powered by ACDSee Photo Manager’s free album-hosting service, SendPix.

Real TIme Viewing

The Instant Preview feature enlarges images when a user scrolls their mouse over thumbnails, without waiting for the image to open. The Quick View mode is handy for quickly opening an email attachment or a file on the desktop.

Organizing

The virtual Photo Calendar tool offers searching for photos and other digital media like scrapbooking kits by date on a viewer-friendly calendar interface. However, it doesn't always find photos in subfolders. ACDSee added a new capability for using multiple keywords to enhance the search process. Images can be tagged with keywords, ratings, and metadata. Photos can be assigned to as many categories as desired and new categories can be added. Other organizing features include the ability to automatically import, rename and categorize new images when your camera or other digital device (including iPods) is connected. The PhotoDisc feature enables users to organize images stored on CDs and DVDs without copying them to their hard drive. Photo Manager can now unzip files and create PowerPoint presentations from within the software.

Updated Editing Features

ACDSee has enhanced Photo Manager's editing features with updated tools:

  • Advanced Shadow/Highlights tool restores areas of photos that are too dark or too light

  • Apply corrections and special effects to a selected portion of your image

  • Red-eye tool is enhanced with custom eye colors to replace the red areas and adjust the brightness and intensity.

  • Improved Blemish Correction tool for more a natural looking effect

Scrapbook Design Kits

If you purchase ACDSee's Creative Bundle of Photo Manager 10 and Photo Editor ($79.99), you get a FREE compilation CD of 12 scrapbook kits designed by top scrapbook designers. The included scrapbook kits themes are Spring, Summer, Autumn, Holiday, Father's Day, Back to School, Summer Camp, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, In the Snow, Year in Review and Cocktail Party.

Other Features

Batch editing, a built-in CD/DVD burner, a slide show creator with transition effects and sound, a new tool for creating videos, file transfer, a Sync tool for synchronizing your image folders with and external drive, and the ability to export image data to text files are other useful features.
