After
buying Jasc in 2004, Corel has given Paint Shop Pro a complete
overhaul. While the prior version was great, we think you
will be even more pleased with this new version, Corel
Paint Shop Pro X.
Corel has redesigned the interface of Paint
Shop Pro to make it much more attractive and user friendly.
It is still an extremely strong photo editing program, only
a lot easier to use.
Perhaps the best new feature is the Corel
Paint Shop Pro Learning Center, which is a step-by-step
guide to completing a range of common tasks. The Learning
Center is docked on the screen (advanced users can close it
if they don't need it). There is also a new Browser palette
integrated into the workspace to make it easier to access,
view, organize images.
New Photo Editing Tools
Users will appreciate the new photo editing
tools, like the Smart Photo Fix which analyzes a photo and
suggests auto-fixes to color, saturation, brightness with
one click. The Makeover tools do a nice job at touching up
photos for tasks such as correcting red-eye and blemishes
and whitening teeth. The new Object Remover can remove unwanted
objects like a telephone pole and intelligently fill in the
background with appropriate details.
There is also support for RAW file format
and batch processing to apply the same fixes to a group of
photos or convert a batch of images to a different file format.
Corel Paint Shop Pro X comes bundled
with several extras:
- The standard version of Corel Photo
Album 6. This offers decent photo management and sharing
capabilities, although it is not as comprehensive as in
the Corel Photo
Album 6 Deluxe version, which is sold separately.
- Tutorials on CD by Lynda.com. so you
can learn by watching video clips of Paint Shop Pro in action
- Pixmantec® Rawshooter
Essentials, a complete Raw workflow package
