Jasc
Paint Shop Photo Album 5 Deluxe
With it's latest release, Photo Album 5, Jasc gives you
a redesigned interface with an easy layout. At less than
$50 it is an inexpensive solution for organizing, enhancing,
sharing and archiving your digital memories. Download
photos from your camera with just two clicks. Their much
improved interface lets you view photos four ways: by
calendar view, folder, keyword or search criteria. You
can rename or re-size groups of photos, which is a big
time-saver.
Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album 5 lets
you fix and enhance images with one click. Advanced
adjustments include Fill-in Flash, Backlight and Sharpen,
which are not offered by many other album/editing programs.
While it has an "advanced" red-eye tool, there
are other programs such as StudioLine
that do much better with red-eye removal. You can add
text to photos, seamlessly stitch photos for panoramas,
add frames and borders and create calendars and greeting
cards. Paint Shop Photo Album 5 offers scrapbook templates
and you can even create custom hardcover books from
your photos. A somewhat unique feature is the ability
to optimize photos for cell phones and you can enhance
(i.e. reduce) your friends proportions with a Thinify
filter. Photo Album 5 does a great job with archiving
and gives automatic reminders when it's time to archive
photos.
Bottom line: Jasc Paint Shop
Photo Album 5 has an easy layout and user-friendly set
up. The software is pretty easy to learn. Editing tools
are more basic than you find with Paint Shop Pro or
Photoshop, but for basic editing for beginning to intermediate
users it is fine. Best of all the price is right. The
Deluxe Edition of Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album 5 is bundled
with PhotoRecover, Paint Shop Xtras, 250 Project Photos
by Corbis, and Avery Digital Starter Pack -- all for
under $50. Rating:
